You Choose: Adur Libraries and Children Nick Sharratt, children’s illustrator has agreed to be the project’s patron and will premiere a new exhibition held at Skyways Gallery in May 2019. The You Choose series aims to create an inclusive, educational and accessible project for the families and children of Adur. In partnership with the three Adur Libraries in West Sussex, Shoreham, Lancing and Southwick artist Nick Sharratt will be producing art work to display in each library over the period of one month. With the art works moving to each library. The Libraries will then host a workshop in that month based on the theme of the art work, working with local art practitioners. The activities and creations from these workshops will then in turn be displayed in the You Choose exhibition held at Skyways Gallery. We are asking for a contribution to the printing costs and workshops held at the libraries over 3 months prior to the exhibition.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
"If you could do anything, what would you choose? Imagine you could go anywhere, with anyone and do anything. Where would you live? Where would you sleep? Who would be your friends? What games would you play? Go on . . . You choose!’ Nick Sharratt, has written at least 40 children's books and illustrated 160 more. His long-running partnership with Jacqueline Wilson began with The Story of Tracy Beaker in 1991. Their books have sold more than 30 million copies in Britain. This new work will invite children across Adur to contribute to a brand new exhibition based on the work of Nick Sharratt. The themes of You Choose will encourage creative thinking and conversations with families and children as well as a fantastic opportunity for the local community. Local artists will be able to explore ideas and provide innovative and exciting workshops to the libraties of Adur as well as awarding Skyways Gallery with a prestigious, unique exhibition from a highly regarded illustrator.
