Wapping and Whitechapel Shared Learning is a learning co-operative soceity, wherein local parents share their knowledge and expertise with local children. All parents of school-aged children in Wapping and Whitechapel are welcome to participate - and so our local children will have a wide range of extra-curricular learning opportunities from which to choose.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Make extra-curricular learning accessible to those who cannot necessarily afford to pay for it monetarily Build a foundation of trust within the neighbourhood Very suitable for the home-educating community Will offer a diverse range of ‘lessons’ on offer to students, enriches their learning experience Allow appreciation of different cultures and languages Will be supportive to single parents or those struggling with child-rearing, due to opportunity to meet and share with other parents
Steps to get it done:
Currently, 50 local residents have expressed an interest in the project, and have collectively volunteered to teach the following: Arabic reading English and maths (primary and secondary level) ESOL GCSE Science exam technique French Spanish Vegan and Gluten-free cooking Asian cooking Adobe Suite basics Introduction to Latvian Introduction to Russian Chinese calligraphy Graphics design Islamic calligraphy
