I would like to unite the regular swimmers at the GLL Woodstock open-air pool to form a swimming club and social group catering from beginners to Masters level swimmers

The Woodstock Open Air Swimming pool is an amazing asset which is being under-utilised and could be made more of a social and community hub. My project would be to form an active club open to all which will teach and improve swimming for adults; get people fitter; maximise use of the pool and create a social network for people in the area. The project was the result of my swimming in the pool and noticing that many of the swimmers did not acknowledge or talk to one-another. Having been in an adults' swimming club previously, I see the huge benefits of an organised swimming group, with active coaching and social activities. A club would also benefit GLL the operator of the pool to maximise revenues via increased pool hire in the evenings.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Swimming can be an unfriendly and intimidating sport; but with an open and welcoming club which provides coaching and a social environment. I believe we can recruit existing swimmers and new swimmers. Once established there will be a community of local swimmers who will be self-sustaining and membership fees would go to support the Open air pool. It will be a relatively low investment of financial and coaching support from one of SpaceHive's sponsors - GLL. The rest can be provided by the community in enthusiasm and promotion.
