Woodstock kitchen will be a place of learning how to get the best out of the food that is locally grown and locally sourced. It will be that link between different cultures, promoting community cohesion through healthy eating. We want to have 5 cooking stations where up to 10 beneficiaries at a time can learn how to cook healthy African and Caribbean meals. There will be tables in an adjoining restaurant available for paying customers to reserve and enjoy delicious food and drink.
What we'll deliver:
- Transform unused space into a cookery school for Caribbean and African cooking classes and events.
- Share healthy cooking tips on our social media platforms.
- Install a fully equipped kitchen for catering events and feeding the community initiatives.
- Provide 5 cooking stations for classes of up to 10 participants.
- Create a beautiful dining space with tables and chairs where people come together to share food and stories.
Why it's a great idea:
Our project will provide beneficiaries with culinary skills that will improve their own health and wellbeing as well as their chances of employment.
Community cohesion through making available dishes from Africa and Caribbean countries that residents of Walsall can try out.
Our project will cater hundreds of meals for the community feeding the families of children receiving free school meals.
We will deliver meals to local customers giving them the opportunity to try Caribbean and African cuisine.
We will work with volunteers.
Steps to get it done:
- Getting a kitchen design created for the cooking school. Work with architect and beneficiaries to finalise designs.
- Creating a website and social media accounts
- Instruct joiner to build kitchen and workspace.
- Fitting and installation of electrics and plumbing
- Installation of tables, chairs and restaurant artwork
We will aim to expand by having branches in different parts of the Black Country.
