I’m running a cycling project for women to promote health and mental wellness for women. I run these sessions twice a week as there is a lot of demand from the community to take part in cycling.
This project is preparing for fundraising. Click Like to show your support, or Follow for updates on this project's journey.
My project focuses and encourages women to learn cycling and get confident using the open spaces and cycling lanes across Merseyside.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The aim of my project is to promote women’s health and well-being. As a result of my project women will learn new skills, get fit and socialise. It will improve physical health, improve mental health and educate participants on environmentally friendly activities in a practical way. To date many of users who have participated in my project are from BAME community. Initial surveys have indentified users unhealthy lifestyles which include little physical activity and lack of awareness of healthy eating. Feedback since I started this project has highlighted a positive mood and feeling of more energetic. Women who could not ride a bicycle at the start whim two weeks completely a cycle journey over 20 miles in rain. Inundated with request to join.
Steps to get it done:
In future I’m thinking to extend this idea by delivering the ride leaders training and teaching women to ride. This will encourage women to cycle to schools.
