Bedford is a town rich in history and full of incredibly inspiring stories - yet the achievements of its women have so far gone unrecognised. This project aims to redress the balance, capturing and celebrating the wonderful women in our town's past, and inspiring the women of the future. The project will launch with a sculpture, to be unveiled on the Embankment, to tie-in with the national Vote 100 campaign, which marks the centenary of women winning the right to vote. Through this campaign, we hope to involve and include the people of Bedford in creating both a piece of history, and a lasting work of art.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Bedford is a town shaped by a long line of incredible women. This sculpture will stand in recognition of those who came before us, and will inspire those in our future. It will provide a clear focus for determining the needs of the women of our town, in order that we can move forward in engaging women from all communities and capturing their voices.
