To collect surplus food from supermarkets etc . We run on a member based system, members pay £4 and go home with roughly £30 worth of food. Funds are used to provide food we don’t get and cover expenses. Using the stop food going to landfill reduces the stigma for people. They don’t see it as charity for themselves or feel like they are using a food bank. We intend to teach them how to use leftovers etc , how to store food so it lasts longer and stays fresher

Benefit to members is good food at low cost, social aspect of getting out and meeting new people. Providing ingredients for a proper meal which will benefit health and well being . Members have extra money to spend elsewhere in town . Teaching how to make food go further

VolunteerWinsford Community Grocery is a community interest company set up to reduce food waste going to landfill and reduce food poverty in the Winsford area. We provide food that is still of good quality for a small membership fee. We are running this campaign to help cover expenses and to buy in quality meat as this is something we do not receive . We started in February 2020 helping 30 families a week and we know average 150 a week. We have grown bigger than we thought we would in the first year. We remove the stigma of going to a Foodbank so people don't feel like they are accepting charity. Winsford is in the top ten of the country for poverty . We work alongside the other community groups in Winsford and now have a community building which compromises ourselves, pass it on baby bank , uniform exchange and princes trust.
