Diversity as a unifying, creative beacon of hope will be used as a theme to integrate & boost the self confidence, well being & self esteem of our community whilst exploring powerful, personal themes around Identity, Culture & Heritage. Our exceptional community spirited creatives (including our Community Art therapists who worked with Grenfell victims and various creative industries) will run a series of internationally themed (Identity, culture & heritage based) Art, Dance & Singing workshops to bring together, celebrate and reflect the diverse nature and real people of our communities, inside under utilised spaces (such as an in retail spaces which for e.g. which are not used in the evenings to help boost our night time economy and ailing high streets) which will all culminate in a magnificent literally portable public performance & Art exhibition in and directly around public spaces at two of our local Malls, Walthamstow Mall/Townsquare & Stratford Westfield/Stratford Town Centre.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Community Art, Singing, Music & Dance are exceptionally diverse therapeutic, healing and powerful mediums through which to bring people together in a fun way whilst giving people first hand an opportunity to explore themes around their diversity & culture and an appreciation of different cultures they may not know much about or feel integrated though they live alongside. It helps with well being and has the power to connect up and bring together diverse communities for cohesion & connectivity. In addition we feel due to a lack of public community spaces but also a decline in high streets due to a drop in footfall and closure of retails spaces we need to redefine the way these spaces can be used for the benefit of community cohesion and cultural cohesion whilst bringing more people into our retails spaces to help boost our local economies, we believe this is one way for the future where community arts can help boost our local economies whilst bringing people together.
