Building on 2017's efforts, we want to replace more Christmas lights on Wickford high street

Give Wickford the Christmas spirit it deserves and brighten up our high street even further! We need your help to make it happen. This year we are replacing 10 light fittings after raising a fantastic £4,000 in 2017 and this year we are aiming to raise another £5,000 to replace the rest of the lights for 2019. To make improvements in 2019 the funding has to be raised now, otherwise we will have to wait another year. We want to have a Christmas lights display that people who live and work here can be proud of. Other high streets in Essex have fantastic displays so why can't we? Get in the community spirit and help us light up Wickford at Christmas!
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Our main aim is to raise £20,000 in total to bring even more sparkle to Wickford and we'd love to eventually hold a switch-on event in 2020. There have been improvements in the last three years but we are determined to do even better in the next few years. By taking a phased approach we can replace lights each year and then add brand new lights when there is enough in the pot. New Christmas lights will bring more festive spirit to the town, encourage more footfall into the high street shops and generate a sense of community pride in our lovely town.
Steps to get it done:
Wickford at Christmas handles the installation, maintenance and storage of the Christmas lights and also organises the Christmas Street Fair. This year the fair is on Sunday 25th November where there will be a Santa's Grotto, gift stalls, entertainment, food and drink and much more.
