We (local Barnet residents) want the council to Revive Watling Market, and make it a permanent weekend event, this will bring a positive economic impact for the area & more revenue for the surrounding local businesses & most importantly a sense of Pride within the local community. Currently it is in a rundown state due to years of neglect from the Council, I volunteer as a Project Manager to create the New Market Vision without any profit along with my friends & local residents within the area.
We have local Colleges, Schools & the Business Community ready to make this vision into a reality with their donations of resources & physical manpower, we do not understand why Barnet Council is silent on the matter.
The Market can become an attraction for visitors from many different parts of London & could potentially play host to small/medium events for the entertainment of visitors, making it a great family day out.
Food Stalls - Farmers Markets - Local Art on Display - Crafts - Clothes
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The Idea is Awesome!!
It will benefit the local community in many ways, we have a diverse ethnic mix & the market could act as a hub to bring together & celebrate our cultures as Londoners. the community businesses will benefit greatly, also the local area will see many visitors from surrounding areas, putting our little market on the Map.
We will engage local Farmers & other specialist businesses to offer fresh produce and educate the younger and older generation on health issues.
We are not looking for a strictly commercial Market, we hope for a Unique Market where everyone can achieve something different and have a great day out.
