Providing support and funding to cricket clubs across the country as they return to cricket.
As with most village cricket clubs we are funded by membership fees, match fees and hires, all of which have been negatively impacted or non-existent due to covid-19. We have muddled through this season and managed to host a significant number of T20 and 40 over games. However, the outside furniture, score boards, sight screens and boundary fence and other facilities have fallen into disrepair. All work is already performed by volunteers, so there is not much we can do to reduce costs further. We would love to see some support from the local community and wider to get us through this tough time and add value to the members and the local community as well as supporters of the club.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
By refreshing facilities we hope to draw in more spectators from the street as well as the families of those playing and form more of a community around the club and local cricket. We also have a few potential members who we would like to entice in to join and build a wider player base in order to offer more games to more players.
Steps to get it done:
2025 will also mark 150 years for Westfield Cricket Club. We would love to scarify and re-seed the outfield in time for that so we can host a multi-event celebration with BBQ and hopefully with a guest team. This is a few years away however preparations can already start, but this will cost several thousand pounds we currently can't fund out of our own pocket. We want to raise funds to put back into the ground for more people to enjoy and participate in the sport all members love already!
