We're going to make a new park with play and sports space!

Ilford Idea stage

This project is preparing for fundraising. Click Like to show your support, or Follow for updates on this project's journey.

Our first stage will start soon - that's to put in a multi use games area (MUGA) with lighting so that it can be used in the evenings as well ensuring fuller community benefit. We'll make a new entry with a small car park for disabled access.

We've raised £210,000 toward this - good going but it is expensive to build a new park. We have land promised from Redbridge Council plus full planning permission.

The next stage is to make this a proper park with paths around, landscaped planting of trees, hedges and shrubs, and put in play equipment and an outdoor gym.

Health information shows local children don't get enough exercise - by having somewhere nice to go and take exercise this will help them be healthier and happier. It will help reduce anti-social behaviour as young people will have "somewhere to go" .

Everyone will benefit from a much more attractive area, a place for community pride and somewhere to meet and relax away from urban concerns.

What we'll deliver:

  • As the first stage, make news access and put in a new multi use games area
  • Lay out new paths and attractive landscaping
  • Plant trees, hedging and shrubs
  • Put in a play space and an outdoor gym

Why it's a great idea:

It's needed! There's no other public play and sports space within 3/4 mile.

This area is deprived - lots of low income families who can't be expected to travel far to use play space.

Presently the land is unused, overgrown former allotments - we can make it an attractive place for all to use.

We can use this park to help bring communities together, reduce antisocial behaviour and encourage community spirit.

Steps to get it done:

  • Consulting the community, especially children and young people, on what they'd like to see and use.
  • Employ contractors to build the park.
  • We will use money to pay landscape designers, working with local people, to create an attractive design.
  • We'll have volunteer help especially for tree planting

Thanks for supporting us.

We've come a long way, the first work is about to begin, and with your help we can create an attractive park for everyone to be proud of.
