Through the youth initiatives we run, we concentrate on improving the wellbeing, health and self-esteem of young people. We want to create an area within the "Venny" which young people can call their own. We think this will help minimise ASB in the area and help keep young people safe from the influences of crime and "County Lines". We are planning to buy a used shipping container and convert it into a club space using the skills of the staff at the Venny. The container will be situated in a dedicated space within the Blacon Adventure Playground site and will operate on extended hours 7 days a week under the supervision of trained play workers and play leaders who are based on site.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Many young people find themselves bored and disconnected with their communities and sometimes, each other. They can often end up wandering the street and becoming possible victims of or perpetrators of crime. The facility we're creating will give young people aged 13+ a place to call their own. This will bring both beneifts to them and to the community as a whole as the facility impacts upon the negative effects of these elements.
Steps to get it done:
The young people have expressed their wish to have a place of their own for some time now and we'd love to provide it for them.
