The Worthing Vegan Food Bank Network scheme is completely volunteer-led and relies on donations from locals and businesses where residents can Drop-in, Donate, and Claim non-perishable, in-date food and hygiene products. We were initially established at Field Row Take-Away and swiftly joined by vegan eatery Cactus Kitchen Gals & vegan cafe Conscious Cow. Together, we made the start for a small but central network of support for people in vulnerable situations, without compromising their business ethics. We are now in the process of launching a donation based parcel-delivery service as well as a weekly vegan soup-kitchen style offering.

What we'll deliver:

  • Free Food Parcels to people in need
  • Free Hygiene Parcels to people in need
  • Free Parcel Service to people in need
  • Weekly Drop-In Vegan Soup Kitchen for people in need

Why it's a great idea:

Seeing people struggle in supermarkets and reading many desperate stories on social media by fellow Worthing residents, we have come up with a way to support our ever-growing vegan community. We felt there was a need for an all-vegan food bank in our town, so decided to build a network of vegan-friendly, independent businesses in the Worthing area, offering free and nutritious vegan food and hygiene products to those in need. All funding is re-invested directly to the local independent business community with vegan food and hygiene products directly sourced within the Worthing area.

Steps to get it done:

  • Source Food and Hygiene Products
  • Source Premises for Community Cafe
  • Open community cafe with charity shop offering (in cooperation with Worthing Soup Kitchen)
