My idea is a financial literacy course which is tailored sessions to teach everything an individual needs to know about personal finance. The topics would include such things as budgeting, savings, income, and debt. Covering and discussing the behavioral aspects of money management and including implementable and practical guide to each specific age range on how to become more financial literature. The session will be delivered in small groups of 8-12, where the teaching style is conversion style led. Poverty is often a cycle, and many people didn’t choose the circumstances they were born in. As a 2nd generation immigrant from single parent household my circumvented in regard to money wasn’t the best to put it one way. However, in this age of information and technology the opportunity to change one’s circumstances through education is very possible and a beautiful thing. Uncordially certain societal restrictions are still in place that hold back individuals from certain communities.

The main benefit of project is that participants get to learn and explore what financial literacy is and the improve their money management skills. So far, I have delivered 9 workshops to different age groups ranging from 14-22. Also 2 POC at community center. Overall reaching just under 100 participants. I have taken the steps to make into a social enterprise so it can have bigger impact. Which involve collecting data on workshops and documenting what I do. Also I had my big event on the 23rd of September. You can watch the video below and read the impact report. The way I have built the brand and organisation is I have created how to guides of all training and resources. This includes on how to deliver sessions, resources for session and everything else. I have attempted to build the social enterprise this way so that it can be implemented and replicated in other communities.

VolunteerMy name is Abdirahman Ahmed, and I am a BA Business Management graduate from the University of Greenwich. Growing up in a low socioeconomic status household, money was often a taboo topic which led to me developing bad spending habits and not learning the basic skills of dealing with money. However, I found this attitude, as well as high levels of poverty, to be a common theme in all deprived London boroughs.

I also raised £845 from crowdfunding for my event that I have on September 23rd. I later then secured a partnership for the event secured where an organisation has funded my launch event that happened on the 23rd of Sep.
