We have a small parade of iconic shops set within a building considered to be of considerable local interest by Brent council within its Strategic Plan.
They sit on a corner with a considerable area of pavement already set with mature trees and at a corner that links Walm Lane with the High Road proper and near several bus-stops.
Within the Willeden Green High Road/Walm Lane shopping area of some 1-5 miles in length there is no green space or public seating area.
We would like to create an urban pocket park for rest and relaxation within this busy environment.

What we'll deliver:

• create a chamomile lawn to simulate grass.
• create mosaic art,
• plant flowers in planting boxes,
• we will fit 2 new benches,

Why it's a great idea:

It is well known that green space is good for the environment and soothes the soul and mind of humans. In a heavily urbanised environment it is essential to provide the opportunity for people to rest, relax and reinvigorate themselves during a hectic day and amongst traffic and noise and pollution.
This small piece of pavement is ideally situated as not only is it situated in a spot that is heavily used already with traffic lights at a major junction and several bus-stops, but also it already has mature trees to provide shade and shelter.
Willesden Green lacks public areas and parks and we need to use creatively any small space that we have. this space is the largest paved area we have that is ot already planned for alternate use (eg markets)

Steps to get it done:

• Local builders, crafts people and artists will design and build the space.
• Volunteers will implement the planting and maintain the planting.
