We want to bring artistic murals to Wanstead. Unity Walls will highlight the aspects of heritage and culture in Wanstead as well as truly repect and adhere to the conservation needs of the community. We are very well connected in the art world and would be able to introduce high calibre artists to the 'Unity Walls' project in Wanstead. We will gain permission and access to a select number of walls in and around Wanstead High Street that will be painted between 8th - 24th September 2017 that is due to tie in with this year's Art Trail Wanstead, a community art event celebrating its 8th year.

What we'll deliver:

  • Commission Artists work
  • Present & launch a London wide press release
  • Engage the local community with World Class artworks
  • Promote the local economy by driving many tourists to Wanstead

Why it's a great idea:

Unity Walls is a great idea because it is able to harness so many positive and beneficial factors for the community. It will brighten dull areas and contribute to the artistic and cultural selling points of an already buzzing High Street. The new murals have been an idea developed through a partnership with a local Creative Director that has been working alongside Council officials for a number of years in arts, culture, civic pride, regeneration and with local businesses. She is the organiser of our Arts Trail and believes the people of Wanstead would benefit from the permanent murals on the High Street which can increase the local economy by attracting art lovers to the area too.

Steps to get it done:

  • Develop commission designs that relate to Wanstead Conservation Village
  • Establish workshops with local schools
  • Establish the first mural in Wanstead
  • Promote 'Unity Walls' and the impact on Wanstead
