To provide an ongoing creative hub in London. Teaming up with respace projects to restore & re-suse space for social good. The Nave is a collective made up of artists & creatives who come together to showcase exhibitions, workshops, green spaces, artwork & much more which raises awareness of social & political issues. Offering possible solutions to the way we as a community can challenge & strengthen our response to social issues. Giving our own creative community & local community the ability to merge by engaging them in environmentally sustainable creative practises. Leaving them with resources & safe spaces to utilise in creative collaboration as we hold inclusivity & solidarity economy at the core of our community, believing everyone should have access to a place to learn to grow, create & participate. We want to provide those opportunities to everyone who has a desire to create for change. The catalyst of this pandemic & our isolation proves evermore the need for community .
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Creative community driven workshops, enabling all to join in on multifaceted artistic media outlets such as crafting, painting, sculpture, theatre, meditation, exercise classes, Exhibition & Film screening spaces, as well as community gardens & cafe. The Nave will be an educational hub providing lectures, talks & meeting spaces and resources for all creatives to share & promote their goods boosting underground & smaller creative business. Whilst raising awareness of cultural an environmental practises. Partnering communities in line with our mission, who wish to participate, collaborate & use the space. A diverse mix of free & solidarity economy social spaces for the local communities to grow local prosperity & collaborations that empower everyone. Using artistic, collaboration & development to enrich the lives of each other & our communities. Advocating for human rights, inclusivity, social justices & thereby generating self-determination and collective action within our communities.
Steps to get it done:
We are raising money to enable us to continue providing a space for our community to come together to raise awareness of social issues. Between January and March of this year we were busy preparing for our upcoming exhibition 'We Consume', which was to be held over four days at a gallery in London Bridge 'The Ugly Duck'. During this time we provided space and brought together nearly 200 of our artists (many new to our community) to create together in preparation for this exhibition aimed at raising awareness of consumer culture epidemic and offering possible solutions for a more environmentally conscious way of living. Due to COVID-19 we made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone this exhibition as the safety and wellbeing of our community is imperative to our values. Due to postponing this exhibition we refunding all tickets sold, resulting in us loosing funding to The Nave general fundraiser. We pride ourselves on being a versatile community in the face of adversity.
