Connecting people, ideas, and support from the crowd to make Leicester an even better place!
Unit 66 Youth & Community Development has designed and developed a 12 week boxing/MMA mentoring program to benefit people (11 years plus) of Leicester who may be involved or at the risk of various personal and social issues affecting themselves, their families, friends, community and others around them. The “ MMA & LIFE SKILLS” 12 week program has been specifically designed and developed involving the delivery of boxing and mixed martial arts training and activities, mentoring and educational awareness around personal, social and community issues. The delivery structure will consist of 3 days of physical activity and training, and one day of Life Skills mentoring lasting a total of 12 weeks/3 months.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The program will be delivered by an experienced and qualified youth worker/mentor, qualified boxing/MMA trainer, qualified post-16 teacher/trainer, IAG careers advisor, health & nutrition advisor and criminology graduate. Training will also be provided by an experienced and highly skilled brown belt Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/Luta Livre trainer and experienced competing kick-boxer. Participants will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the program, and character references can also be provided if requested. There will also be potential opportunities for work experience or voluntary work for exceptionally performing participants. There is NO CHARGE for participants enrolled on the program. The program is open to anyone age 11 years and older, of any status but priority will be given to those at most risk and vulnerability.
