Working with partner organisations through using digital promotion channels, we'll invite participants to engage in combined arts project (drumming, movement & visual arts), reaching audiences of 10,000+ via socials. We will: - ask public to send us words evoked by ‘Life After Lockdown: what’s the first thing you’ll do?’ - compose a percussive piece using mnemonics & record a midi sample track to be used as a guide for participants to record themselves playing with their ‘instruments’ - deliver workshops in building percussive instruments from household items (upcycling waste, as well as other available objects like pots and pans) - teach how to upcycle household waste into props & characters representing the words sent - use same percussive piece to devise & teach accompanying choreography - combine all the above into an online performance piece! We would also invite the public to perform their piece at our next Katumba Halloween Parade, the biggest of it's kind in the Northwest!
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Bring people together through online combined arts and culture activities - obliterating barriers imposed by lockdown, and creating a cathartic, inspiring composition that looks to the future! Participants will learn and practice a new skill, boost confidence, improve their physical and mental wellbeing and importantly, decrease social isolation by inviting wider audiences to reach their creative potential - for all ages and backgrounds. The project will also highlight the diversity, accessibility and power of music, movement and arts to engage, ignite and harmonise as both individuals and communities; to bring together a diverse, global community. helping artists and organisations to work internationally - needed more now than ever! It will also put Liverpool on the map as a hub of creative multicultural vibrancy!
