Help us set up a centre to provide Alternative Education!

Here at TRWC we are based around horses and people. We have many people visit the yard for different reasons but have found it amazing to offer vulnerable people somewhere to go and empower themselves or just be able to come here for peaceful quiet time. We are looking to set up an alternative education centre, this would involve English and Maths tutoring as well as a few subjects that would benefit the pupils such as life skills. It will also involve working with the horses, and some of the yard animals, we could potentially set up a gardening patch and a small canteen for the pupils, staff and visitors to use. Through this we can offer work experience and help provide them with work skills they can use for the future. Teaching them to work as team or by themselves and giving them confidence in the work place. We could also provide small courses here such as 'First Aid' and 'Food hygiene' to give them qualifications for the work place.

What we'll deliver:

  • Purchase a suitable building for the class room, toilets and mini canteen such as a static caravan, summer house etc.
  • Hire a part time tutor for Maths, English and other subjects.
  • Apply to the council to become a official Alternative Education setting.

Why it's a great idea:

There is more and more becoming a modern realization that exams and education at school is not suited for every child, there are children with complex needs or learning difficulties but also children without who are not academic but still have great ability in other areas. Standard education does not empower every child and there needs to be more options available to those who struggle in school. Where each child is treated as a individual and empowered by their abilities. They can learn the basic subjects and also learn important skills for the work place but also build on their own self confidence and empowerment.
