Age Concern Colchester has a rich local history serving the needs of the community in later years by providing opportunities for friendships and improved living standards.
The work the team does transforms lives to avoid homelessness, poverty, deprivation, loss of dignity and respect and the depths of extreme loneliness which can be a killer.
We bring in over £1m of benefit claims for people who otherwise wouldn’t have had this income which supports both the individual and the local economy.
As an independent local charity we are reliant upon a mixture of the generosity of the local residents and grant funding we are able to source.
As part of a planned move we are crowdsourcing to change the entrance of our new property to allow accessibility for those in later years, those with disabilities and also to create an area for a new gardening club to combat loneliness.
