Creating a springboard for a locally led recovery and re-imagination of the North of Tyne
The idea is to buy a shipping container and convert it into a comfortable, warm inside seating area, with rooftop garden to grow ingredients for the food we serve. So supporting and promoting sustainability, local production of food products and the development of independent businesses. We would like to be able to offer our customers a better service by providing them with an inside seating area, giving them a more comfortable dining experience. This would also enable us to extend our opening hours and provide us with a space to continue to hold art exhibitions and music events.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Since moving the Cafe to Leazes Park last year, the community presence in the park has grown and antisocial behaviour has dramatically dropped. At the moment we only have outside seating. This dramatically limits our business to be completely weather dependant also effecting the level of service we are able to offer our customers. We have proposed the idea of a converted container to the local residents, regular customers, students, fishermen, hospital staff, patients and families that use the park.We have received a huge amount of support and enthusiasm from all these demographics.Demonstrating that this project would be a very celebrated, appreciated space that would meet the needs of the community as a whole. We have also put forward a proposal to the council and the parks trust and are now waiting on the permission to move forward.
Steps to get it done:
This project is not only positive for the expansion of our business but will benefit the community as a whole. Our aim is to contribute in making the city more environmentally aware, promoting the arts and establishing a place that may be used by all demographics of the public. A space where people are free to relax, eat, socialise and connect with their community.
