By providing a regular bustling market in the Town Centre. We will create an affordable platform for local businesses and entertainers to come and showcase what they do and to encourage people to 'Buy Local'.

We will be the stepping stone that many start up businesses need to engage with potential new customers.

The Market will be a regular known Market that people will come to visit to buy local Produce and products or to just come and soak up the amazing atmosphere that will be created alongside it by talented local entertainers.

What we'll deliver:

  • Provide Market Stalls for Businesses to rent.
  • Provide marketing of the Market through all channels open to it.
  • Provide Stalls that Local Community Groups can use for Community Led Events in Torbay.
  • Provide a regular managed market.
  • Provide a Website for Stall Holders taking part to further promote their businesses at no cost to the Stall Holder.

Why it's a great idea:

The Torbay Family Market will operate in front of the Town Hall, Castle Circus, Torquay. By doing this it helps the local area with the following:

• Increasing footfall at Castle Circus
• Dispersing anti social behaviour
• Creating a sense of community
• Increasing footfall into the Town Centre
• Provide a diverse range of businesses in one area that do not compete with businesses already established in the Town Centre.
• Encourages Torbay residents to ‘ Buy Local’

The Torbay Family Market would also encourage performers to use it as a platform to show off their Art. This creates the following for local performers:

• To gain bookings
• To connect with the residents of Torbay
• To Fund Raise for local Charities
• To gain experience of performing to the public

This benefits the Castle Circus area by providing entertainment for customers encouraging them to spend more time in the area and creating a fun atmosphere that will have residents, businesses and tourists returning regularly.

Steps to get it done:

  • Banners, leaflets and posters will be designed and distributed.
  • Business will be made aware of up and coming markets and invited to attend as a trader.
  • Press releases will promote the market and get the communities involvement.
  • The money will be used to purchase 10 x heavy duty pop up gazebo and table packages.
  • We will create a vibrant and bustling area of Torquay that will have Residents, Businesses and Tourists returning.
  • We will encourage Street Performers to use the Market as a platform to Promote /Fund Raise.
  • Where possible we will tell anyone and everyone about Torbay's 1st Community Inspired Market.
  • The Voluntary Market Manager will ensure communication between all involved remains clear and concise.
