We are going to open up day centres to support and raise awareness for those affected by mental health. We want to combat isolation and reduce friction for people to meet and talk in a safe place.

3 of our founders have suffered with either chronic depression, suicidal thoughts or anxiety. Through our own personal journeys, loneliness and having someone to speak to has always been the biggest barrier. With isolation, loneliness and mental health all being prevelant in today's society, it is a goal of the founders to be able to tackle this, starting in our local community. By opening day centres, where people can meet regularly and support each other, to having days out where their worries or concerns can be understood by those in similar situations. We will support the community factor in really promoting a deeper awareness and understanding to tackle some of the most tragic illnesses in society today allowing people to not feel stigmatised, or find it a taboo to open up and share their vulenerabilities. Through the past 8 years of living with mental health we can agree that speaking with people in a non prescriptive way is beneficial for the mind and overall happiness.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The project is about a real life situation that is not just personal to myself, Aren. The 3 other members, one of whom is my mother, have battled for years with depression and the stigma attached to it. They have however found each other. Realising the importance of having people who can understand their problems in a safe environment has motivated me to provide this on a larger scale. A community working towards helping one another, reducing stress, limiting isolation, focusing on support is what we strive for. Mental health is a taboo and we want people to have a safe place where they know they wont be judged, discriminated against or made to feel inferior. We want people to have a place of comfort where they can speak as they wish to speak and contribute as much or as little as they wish. A community helping each other and working together on a larger problem can only provide a better Outlook for the future of ourselves and our next generation. Lets change the narrative and talk.
Steps to get it done:
We want people to have a safe place to talk, vent and support one another. We want them to not worry about being isolated or feel like their circumstances are taboo. We want to change the world for the better, starting in our local community being a leader for getting everyone affected by mental health (sufferers and friends and families) to have a great understanding. Through creating a support network that can bounce ideas and help each other with support we believe this will alleviate isolation problems, reduce overall anxiety and help make people feel more important, accountable and like they are contributing towards a bigger cause. We are all one decision, circumstance or event from being in a completely different space. I want those of us who are fortunate to be able to help, to do this and support others to getting back to the life they truly desire and once hoped for.
