SWEATERGY® and Blastfit.co.uk believe the best investment that we can make to our future is to steer towards preventative measures to improve mental and physical health, in order to ease the financial strain on local authorities, government and generate better mental, physical and economic health for our communities. We have come together because we feel there is a huge gap in affordable community health and wellbeing programmes within the Ealing Borough that build communities and bring people together. A place where people feel they belong, no matter their economic background, culture, faith, age or sexual orientation. Young people, low socioeconomic groups, those with disabilities, and cultural diverse communities are not only under-represented in having access to these health facilities, but also in obtaining and running these facilities/programs.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
SWEATERGY® and Blastfit.co.uk are in the business of promoting health & wellbeing for individuals & groups in our community through, dance & boxing fitness programmes. We want to create an exciting, vibrant space that engages everyone from all walks of life to prevent ill-health — especially mental health. A space, that is affordable & sustainable to those who are desperately in need of our services, and us (service providers). Our services will provide improvement to mental well-being, physical health, combat obesity & any debilitating health conditions associated to it for example, Type 2 diabetes or heart disease. Our community is diverse, yet, music & dance have a way of being able to communicate to all people regardless of their cultural, physical, age, gender or sexual orientation differences. Boxing can engage young people, help women for self-defence purposes & both disciplines bring people together. Through our space we want to bring back the real meaning of community.
Steps to get it done:
Ealing Borough is not short of Health Clubs or gym facilities, however, they’re run as a corporate businesses through high cost memberships and focus is about hitting unrealistic financial targets which only benefit directors, investors and those at the top of the financial corporate chain of that company. The last decade our industry has seen a huge shift away from actual health benefits of participating in fitness/sport programmes, to the aesthetic benefits of participation, the promotion of high cost personal training programmes or tennis memberships. The problem with this, is they tend to target affluent & financially stable individuals, those who are generally considered fit or relatively healthy through its doors. Unfortunately, this eliminates the very target group who are in dire need of health prevention initiatives. We aim to strip fitness back to basics & put more people in control of their health with an exciting, vibrant space that brings the spirit of togetherness.
