We want to add some excitement and zing to Saturdays and Sundays in Bridgend town centre. Our town centre, not unlike many across the UK, is struggling against the tide of the economic downturn, on-line shopping, out of town retail and the supermarkets. We would like our town to be vibrant and buzzing and be a great place to visit, and to do that we need the kids of Bridgend!
Scooting is Massive, and where best to scoot? On our mini ramp in the town centre! Our car parks are free on Sundays, our best coffee shops are open and maybe the young people of Bridgend can bring back some noise and animation to our lazy Sunday afternoons!
We receive such great ideas to help our town centres but often cannot do them because of dwindling resources. Crowdfunding is a new way for us to think about funding and we hope that the people of Bridgend support us to do this!
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Our town centres are changing and we need to change with them! It is no longer just about shopping, a visit to the town must become an experience! In a small market town like Bridgend there are few leisure opportunities in the town centre and nothing for the young people.
Sunny scooter Sundays will create an attraction for the town that will engage with young people, generate interest in the town, encourage retail spend, create a festival atmosphere and make Sunday the new Saturday in town!
We aim to:
Revitalise our town centre
Create a positive image of Bridgend
Support local business
Engage with young people
Create a buzz about town
Be cool enough for the kids
Steps to get it done:
Let the summer fun begin...
About the space
