Floating high above the scores of dinghies, lilos, giant rubber ducks and other weird and wonderful flotation devices can be found The Canalival art boats. These Art boats form the heart of the flotilla and create the line and blaze the trail of Canalival 2013.
This calamitous caravan is the heart of the carnival, playing host to big sound systems, samba bands, DJ's, circus performers, dancers, unicorns, freaks, monkeys, models and monsters.
This, Ladies and Gentlemen is the base of the party pie. Throw in the rest and lets get gooey.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Canalival is an exercise in British eccentricity, a calamitous cavalcade that exists for one day for no other reason then to have fun, bring people together and celebrate the British summer time as it should be celebrated; getting wet with a gin & Tonic in hand.
Join us starting midday, June 1st, where the canal passes Gainsborough Studios.
East London needs a carnival of its own and the Regents Canal is the perfect place to host it. Lots of people are unaware of our canal network and we strive to raise awareness of this amazing natural beauty by showing people that the canals of London belong to them.
Steps to get it done:
CANALIVAL IS A NOT FOR PROFIT, CROWD FUNDED EVENT WITH A LEAVE NO TRACE POLICY. ANY FUNDS LEFT OVER WILL BE DONATED TO THE CANAL & RIVER TRUST CHARITY WHO MAINTAIN THE CANALS.
