Nearly a third of households own a dog and both canines and their masters use our parks all year round. This project will make a trip to the park as much fun for pooches as their masters.
The facility will encourage owners to interact with their pets more positively by assisting with training, while also encouraging dog and owner to get more exercise. Ray Park, Woodford, in London suburbs, is an incredibly well used space for local dog walkers.
When it comes to providing gyms in the park, humans take priority. But we can have have both. Luckily, Ray Park already boasts great facilities. In recent years a large natural kids play area has been opened, and last year a large outdoor games area and gym facility was built with support from Adidas. Now we've got the chance to build a facility that 96% of surveyed dog walkers have asked for.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
By 2015 half of Britain's pooches will be obese according to the PDSA. So make no mistake, this brand new concept is not just about fun - it will provide a much-needed workout for pets and owners alike. As well as being a focal point for local dog walkers to socialise and share their experiences, the project also responds to growing concern for the health of our pets.
Steps to get it done:
Almost every local dog owner agrees that this is a great idea and this facility would be the first in the borough and one of a few in the UK. We think that this would build upon what is already a popular destination for local dog owners, as well as drawing in curious visitors from further afield.
