Fighting food waste in the community

Our main goal is and will always be to prevent food from going to waste, but we are lucky to be able to help people who may not have very much, and who may have found themselves in hardship. We are not a foodbank, and can’t be relied upon for emergency food, but we often have large quantities of food and are able to help hundreds of people. We promote sustainable living and encourage our service users to share pictures of the meals they have made from ingredients recued from the cupboards. We believe that with a shift in mentality, we as a society can break down the taboo of accessing food in this way. What makes our service unique is that we allow for anonymity – anyone can access the cupboards without the need to interact with other people. Unlike some Foodbanks and Community Markets, there are no conditions to accessing our cupboards and this allows for people to take what they need discreetly if wanted. We do not charge a fee for “membership”, the food we offer will always be free
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
We are looking to support an estimated 150 families a week with free food while preventing that food going to landfill. Not only fighting food poverty but also helping the enviroment
