We have recently been blessed with a brand new church hall and now that its complete we feel it is capable of being so much more than just that. This amazing new space located at the tip of the bustling Mill Hill Broadway should be the central focal point of our local area or; ‘The Community Hub’. The main hall with its fully equipped stage has already proved to be a wonderful draw for our local community, but we want to reach out further and welcome the disenfranchised groups in our community.
With the help of a grant we will create a warm, relaxed coffee house at the entrance to our centre and a children's sensory soft play area to welcome smaller groups who may wish to meet together in an informal friendly atmosphere and to be able to further engage in the many and varied activities going on within the rest of our centre.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
There is no community area such as this in Mill Hill which can bring so many different groups together.
‘The Community Hub’ coffee house will serve simple, easy prepared snacks; some of which will be supplied by our cooking classes along with small meals throughout the day.
In addition we will have a breakfast and after school club for children, afternoon teas for the elderly (although not specifically), with various wonderful planned groups to give the lonely a reason to come and socialise. These will include activities such as ‘Jigsaw Wednesdays’, Cognitive Skills and Computer Gateway workshops to name just a few.
The children’s Sensory Soft Play Room will be a perfect place for special needs users and others to push their physical boundaries, to explore and learn in a safe environment - a world of bright colours, lights, sounds and textures where children’s interaction will enhance their learning and creative awareness.
Steps to get it done:
We have £5,000 to put towards 'The Community Hub' project and need another £15,000 to fully achieve our vision.
