The Work Club women's co-working space

Seyda Karimpour By Seyda Karimpour

The Work Club is a co-working space and community for freelance women in the local area who need an affordable place to work. Help us with our location move due to current space closing in May!

Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.

Since opening The Work Club in March 2018, it has blossomed beyond a co-working space into a unique, female-focused community of support and collaboration, providing ambitious women with business and social opportunities. Our aim is to provide as many resources and as much support as we can to the women who need it. Our landlords have decided to take The Work Club's current home back for their own use at the end of May. This sadly means that we will no longer have a base for our members and workshops. Our community relies on a permanent co-working venue, and we have found the perfect space right in the heart of Wood Green's growing creative hub. While our membership is still growing, we are a low-profit organisation and we're just not in a position to put down a large lump sum in a short time-frame. This is where we need your help - please pledge what you can towards The Work Club's new home!

What we'll deliver:

  • Build a community for self-employed women
  • Help freelancers in the area have affordable desk space and community
  • Sponsor people and give free desk spaces on a monthly basis

Why it's a great idea:

We want to make The Work Club accessible for all women, whether they are after a base to work from or a community membership full of resources to help support them in their journey. The amount that we are aiming to raise will cover the cost of the hefty upfront deposit and the first quarter of rent (just so we have some time to get back on our feet) as well as works and extra furniture/amenities for the space to create the best environment for everyone involved. Once the workspace is up and running, we hope to: - Create a learning academy, working with industry experts and mental health professionals to host talks - Build an online community and resource platform to reach those unable to join as co-working members - Support local women's charities in Haringey

Steps to get it done:

  • SECURING THE SPACE AND PAYING THE DEPOSIT
  • OPENING TO THE PUBLIC
  • HOSTING OUR FIRST EVENT
  • FULLY BOOKED SPACE

Overfunding

This project is enabled for overfunding. If the project hits its funding goal before the end of the campaign period, any extra funds raised will be spent (in order of priority) on:

  • We would use the extra money to:
  • - Hire someone on a part-time basis to help manage the space
  • - Work with a web designer to update the website and implement a better booking system/members area
  • - Buy more amenities for our members
  • - More marketing via leafleting the local area and social media ads.
