The Plastic Free Festival is returning for it's third year this year and we need your help to ensure we can make it a great event for the whole community!
The Plastic Free Festival is an annual festival aimed at helping the public to reduce their single-use plastics through a plastic-free marketplace, with the addition of a festival atmosphere of food and drink and live performances. We want to prove that a festival can have no single-use plastics. This year will be the festival's third year, being held on Sunday 16th July 10am-4pm at New Square Chesterfield market. The festival costs a few thousands of pounds to put on each year, which includes a stage, benches for the public to sit on, craft workshops from award winning individuals, as well as insurance and marketing costs. Please considering donating to enable us to put on a great community festival
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The festival will bring many benefits - we are a plastic free festival, no plastic waste will be produced as a result of this. We will have stalls selling products without single-use plastics thus encouraging a plastic free lifestyle, and to boost this we will have an advice stall promoting plastic free swaps that attendees can make in their own lives. Our craft workshops will enable attendees to learn about and reuse and recycling, thus hopefully inspiring attendees to continue these behaviours after the festival. Bringing live performances to the streets of Chesterfield will bring people out to Chesterfield town centre, supporting local businesses and supporting the local economy. It also means people will get to support independent music artists who get to showcase their talents. Benches for the public to sit on will mean attendees can sit with others, hopefully encouraging conversation and thus creating community.
