HELP US BRING THE STORIES OF HULL’S WARTIME PAST TO LIFE The Hull Blitz Trail is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organisation in Hull that aims to bring local communities together by sharing our local histories. Between 1939 and 1945 thousands of people across Hull were drawn into the Second World War, as soldiers, nurses, firefighters, evacuees, war workers and more. Eighty-six air raids on the city from June 1940 to March 1945 brought terror and tragedy home to thousands more. This year we put together The Hull Blitz Trail, a free walking tour of Hull City Centre which explores the stories of Hull in the Second World War and brings these stories to life through the places still standing today. More than 3000 people have completed The Hull Blitz Trail already- but we didn't anticipate what a huge success this would be and we now need just £300 more to allow more than 10,000 more people to explore the stories of Hull's wartime past.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
‘We need more things like this in our city’. So far we have seen an amazing response- more than 3000 trails have been sent out in the first week alone, more than 30,000 people have viewed our site online and the first 500 blitz trails flew off the shelves in just two hours. Not only has our trail shared the stories of Hull and it’s people’s past with the people of today, but by sharing the stories of our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents have brought communities together. It has been heart-warming to see the old and young getting together to share these stories, share laughter, and build lasting friendships. We’ve also seen thousands more people out on the streets, getting active and exploring our city in a way they haven’t before, which has also had a knock-on effect on local businesses, especially in the Old Town and Whitefriargate areas. For a limited time only, we are offering all backers of just £2 or more free delivery of The Hull Blitz Trail to their homes.
Steps to get it done:
Until our target of £300 is reached, we are offering all backers of £2 or more FREE DELIVERY of The Hull Blitz Trail to an address of their choice, to say thank you for supporting this wonderful project. We simply can't do it without you. Please help us continue to share Hull's wartime stories with 1000s of people in our wonderful city!
