Children with disabilities can benifit from dance by developing self awareness, growing in strength and finding new flexibility and muscle movement. All of which could allow for a better quality of life.
Candice Andrews Dance Company is an exciting new dance school in Cardiff with a difference. We want to help everyone who wants to enjoy dance. Giving children and families the chance to experience dance and develop better social skills, confidence and other transferable skills. Too many children and young people will never know how much fun dance can be because they cant afford it or it isnt accessible in other ways. Help us to work with children and young people no matter where they live, what their abilities are or their financial status. Lets give all children the chance to dance.
What we'll deliver:
- Give free dance classes and fun days to children and young people who's families have limited income.
- Offer dance experiences to children and young people with physical and learning disabilities.
- Offer dance scholarships
Why it's a great idea:
There are so many benefits to be gained from movement in dance which can help reduce stress, improve confidence and social interaction. Learning new skills can impact on all areas of a child life in a positive way. But far too many children are unable to experience the opportunities dance can offer because of financial, physical or other limitations.
Steps to get it done:
- By funding more specialist teaching time
- Funding to pay for those who can't afford it
- Training young people to support their peers
