Opened in 2020, just 5 days before the start of the first lockdown, the Boat Shed - The home of the Boaty Theatre Company - has become a hub of activity for people in the community supporting people through hard times by engaging with the arts through participation in groups or by attending an event. The Boat Shed is the home for the arts and artists to develop and showcase their talents. In addition to Live theatre, Comedy, and Music events, The Boat Shed represents a number of local visual artists and will host pop-up exhibitions to showcase the work of local visual and offer people the opportunity to talk to the artist about their work. We are seeking funding to enable us to build a temporary gallery in order to be able to hold these events. The Boat Shed, and the boaty theatre company is a registered charity and as such rely on funding and donations to keep the doors of the hub open, without support we will be unable to continue our work in the community.

What we'll deliver:

  • Free Youth Theatre Classes
  • Community arts & craft sessions
  • Social groups for people of all ages
  • Affordable events

Why it's a great idea:

Helping to support The Boat Shed will enable us to continue the work we have started within our community, providing a safe and inclusive space that everyone can call home and a space for new ideas to thrive.

Steps to get it done:

  • 5000

Covid-19 continues to affect the boat shed as lots of people are still scared to come out. In addition to the funding, we rely on people attending our ticketed events to help us remain sustainable. Without your help and support the future of the Boat Shed is uncertain.
