We are a small voluntary group in Bidford-on-Avon creating lively and vibrant banners to hang on our village High St, to brighten up the village supporting our history, facilities & activities.
Our banners celebrate our rich history and legends; the Saxon and Roman heritage, medieval bridge and church, the Shakespeare connection and our riverside attraction The Big Meadow. Our project is hoping to achieve increased footfall to the High Street to support existing shops and services, encourage new ones and improve sustainability. We anticipate that the banners will attract visitors from near and far and enhance a sense of pride within the village and its community.

VolunteerWe are a small voluntary group formed August 2017 in Bidford on Avon to create lively and vibrant banners to hang in our village High Street in the summer months, brightening up the village and reflecting iits history, businesses, facilities and activities.
Our banners celebrate the village's rich history and legends; the Saxon and Roman heritage, medieval bridge and church, the Shakespeare connection and our riverside attraction The Big Meadow. Legend has it that Shakespeare fell asleep under a crab apple tree after a drinking match, describing the village in a verse as "Drunken Bidford".
The idea and seed funding of £2000 came from Bidford Parish Council, and following a successful grant application a further £750 was received from Stratford Disrict Council, endorsing support from local government.
The project is hoping to achieve increased footfall to the High Street to support existing shops and services, encourage new ones and improve sustainability.
We anticipate that the banners will attract visitors from near and far and enhance a sense of pride within the village and its community.
Our success this year was proven when 10 banners were hired and proudly displayed by the Bidford businesses and High Street villagers creating a warm community spirit amongst visitors to the High Street, followed by many positive comments on social media.
