Our space is great for people to gather in. We have church meetings, host gigs, teach classes, show films, run Parenting Classes, put on Pantomimes, display art and provide space for parents & toddlers and a soup kitchen for people who live on the streets. With 600-800 people coming through the doors each week, that's a lot of wear and tear! We'd love to spruce up the space, replace the mugs and plates and get a film projector that actually works so that we can show films for local families (specifically as part of the New Cross and Deptford Free Film Festival in April 2016 - and beyond!)

Why it's a great idea:
The Bear building is used a lot. People come from all over the Borough and beyond to join in with what goes on. We want it to continue to be a great place to meet and to spend time. But there are practicalities, and they don't pay for themselves. The Bear Church community gives a lot and so many local people support the events and groups we facilitate and enjoy the benefits. We want to continue to be creative in what we can do in the space, and we want to look after it well. It's in need of an upgrade!
Steps to get it done:
- We have volunteers who will ensure we get a great deal on any purchases
- We will employ local people to help with the refurbishments
- We will support the Film Festival by continuing to get involved on every level.
