A new youth magazine and wrap around project. Young participants will be the journalists researching, developing and writing articles - Illustrators, editors & photographers from start to publication.

The project will be delivered in the boroughs of Croydon and Lambeth (Our Directors have close ties in both boroughs). When you tell a story from a place of misinformation or bias you miss learning opportunities to really impact young people and make lasting changes. By having young people as journalists, photographers and camera people you get a true reflection of the issues young people face and can then help them achieve their potential by reaching them at the earliest possible stage. Our project objective is to provide Talentbase as a platform where participants are able to not only control and shape their narrative by putting a spotlight on all the positive things young people do in the boroughs but also promote borough community events. We will teach participants how to write, edit and structure a magazine including creative writing techniques. Punctuation and grammar and Software Editing. We will also be publishing the magazine at the end - physically and electronically.

What is unique about us is that we pride ourselves on giving our young people structure activities that will better their lives and get them involves in community projects that will actually be of interest to them. We do not operate the same as a lot of youth clubs who provide a location with a football table and a space to ‘hang out’. At Talentbase we want to nurture our young peoples skillset and help them to find what they are passionate about no matter how hard they may think it is to achieve. We help provide a way for a lot of young people who feel stuck making choses for their lives or stuck between making difficult choices about education, making money and their futures. We have seen how the lack of education or even money impacts young lives and we aim to give young people a way out of that. To not fall into the life of ‘fast money’ and teach them life long skills and provide an alternative to life that they may not even know they needed at the time.

VolunteerTalentbase is a multimedia, youth based ‘production’ company. In short, we construct a variety of projects run by young people. This ranges from TV, film, graphic design, photography, journalism and art. We allow our young people to take the lead through every project giving them the training and knowledge to do so, nurturing their skillset every step of the way. We are a not for profit organisation that relies heavily on funding and investments from other organisations and funding bodies.
We are aiming to help solve the levels of youth crime and antisocial behaviour in out local communities. This means helping disaffected youth living in communities affected by crime, unemployment and anti-social behaviour. Offering structured activities and programmes of support, we enable young people to make positive choices about their present and future career options, including doing better in school and on the street.
