The current Park is outdated and uninspiring to the local children, their parents and guardians. For this reason the Park is underused. We feel that is important to invest in the youth of tomorrow,
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
It is over 18 years since anything has been replaced in the park, and in today's climate the park is both outdated and does not meet the needs of the community and has Health and Safety Standards Issues. There is also no proper accessibility for disabled and equipment is uninspiring. After speaking to and getting parents and guardians opinions found that many young mums and grandparents do not drive and being a rural village have nowhere to take their children in their care after Nursery finishes, that is in walking distance. What we will Deliver • Install new modern Interactive play equipment • Include a new toddler-friendly play area • Lay new, child-friendly, safety flooring • Provide more benches and seating areas • Redesign of Park Area • Incorporate some items of Equipment that is accessible to disabled • Possibly a section for nature lovers to include bird boxes • Support from local residents to give their time and to fund raise annually for upkeep of Park
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
We need to show that we are willing to invest in our youth of tomorrow. The park will be a meeting place for generations across the board a great investment for the future of the community. A place for the village to be proud of, A play area for the children of the village to develop skills needed throughout their life's such as, team building, sharing, planning. Learning through play they will also build up their fitness and enjoy the open air. Parents, Guardians will be able to chat and share time together in a safe place out in the open air. Somewhere that's benefits a number of groups within our village Why its needed. There are lots of young children in our village and many children from outside villages who attend the local school and Pre-school and the Park is well used, but it is outdated and badly designed, with nothing for toddlers, over 7's or children with special needs. Also much of the equipment is dangerous, because of this reason equipment is not used.
Steps to get it done:
We want to rejuvenate the site with inclusive and engaging equipment to provide play for a wider range of children in the community. We want to keep our children active. Playgrounds can be amazing places of imagination and fun - play helps to boosts their development, independence and skills. We want our children to be able to reap the benefits that can be gained through such a Park and not to be missing out because of lack of investment. Research shows that Children's health and well-being is really improved by access to good quality outdoor space. Working towards Getting it done: • Work closely with Playing Field Committee who manage and maintain the playground. • Work with parents, carers and the local community to develop the best park possible • Work closely with playground designers to design the spaces • Install the equipment and open the new playground as quickly as possible With support, funding and by working within the Community we can achieve better use of green-space.
Location Leven
About the space
Currently a play park but old and rusty outdated equipment. The area is adjoining a playing field next to a preschool so the preschool would be able to make full use of the new equipment, currently they can't use because of health safety issues with the equipment. The play park has not had anything done or replaced since 2000.
