A project to raise funds to enable us to instruct our architect to prepare tender documents, select approved contractors and award contracts for construction of the community facility described below

If successful we will be in a position to progress to contract for construction. The building will center around a meeting room capable of seating up to about 30 people. There will be accessible toilets with baby-changing facilities. A servery will allow preparation of light refreshments. The exterior will provide level access from adequate parking and to the existing church building to which it is connected by a short passage, giving mutual sharing of facilities and joint or independent activities. The external finish will be of green oak or larch, blending into the environment of the Weston Turville Conservation Area. The meeting room will be attractive, warm and comfortable with floor to ceiling windows overlooking Chilterns countryside and farmland. WiFi access will be provided. Our immediate need is to instruct the architect to create contract specifications and documents to invite tenders for the construction. We then have pledges to be paid against actual construction work
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Existing local facilities are already heavily booked and with over 5,000 new houses planned, some already completed and occupied, there will be great demand for these facilities. Many groups are unable to find accommodation for regular or occasional meeting places. We have expressions of interest from some groups. There is a need and established demand for groups offering social, educational, sporting, medical, advisory, technical, heritage, hobbies etc for children and young families, the elderly, disabled or disadvantaged, lonely and many new residents coming into the area. The village school, CofE assisted, already uses the church for religious instruction and festival services but is enthusiastic about using the meeting room for studies, including heritage, environment, ecology, etc.
Steps to get it done:
Please note that this crowdfunding is aimed to cover the costs involved in "what will you deliver" above. A further £150k will be needed to cover the main construction costs but we anticipate this will largely be available by the time contracts are agreed. We are pursuing a likely £100k pledge, which will be determined in the near future. The success of the crowdfunding in providing the contract development work is a major key to the appeal of the final fundraising stages
