The Parish Council wish to redevelop the Community Playground to enable all-user access. This will include wheelchair access swing and roundabout along with the required all access paths walkways. Prior to 2019, the playground was maintained by a group set up by local residents, called Sutton Weaver Community Group who raised funds solely to maintain the playground. However, in 2019, the repairs to the playground cost £4561. The Community Group could not cover the full amount and therefore the Parish Council helped with funding and the responsibility for the playground then passed to the Parish Council. Renewing and replacing the equipment regularly shows to the local community how committed the Parish Council are to keeping this attraction open. Not only is it a safe environment for children to play safely on their own and increase their independence but regularly many parents with pre-school children can be seen meeting up and having picnics in the playground.

What we'll deliver:

  • A community playground that ensures all access and inclusive play equipment
  • An all access, safe community play area
  • A safe environment for all children to play and parents can meet

Why it's a great idea:

Redeveloping, renewing and replacing play equipment regularly shows to the local community how committed the Parish Council are to keeping this well used attraction open. It will enable all inclusive play for all children in a safe setting in the local community. The redevelopment will help to bring the local community together and increase volunteering opportunities in supporting the ongoing maintenance of the playground.

Steps to get it done:

  • Carefully excavate existing set of swings and store ready for location / reinstallation elsewhere on site
  • Remove / take up worn existing rubb grass matting below swing set to being located
