Pop-up event that provides an inclusive leisure space for children with disabilities during the summer break.
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
Pop-up events have proven to be hugely trendy and popular within the last few years but have come up short with regards to how inclusive they are especially when they are targeted at children. We will achieve this by providing sensory equipment adapted for kids with disabilities; adhering health and safety standards and ensuring accessibility for all. We will also raise disability awareness and encourage greater inclusion and education about children with disabilities. PLACES TO TOUR
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
It will be one of kind and will address an unmet need in the borough. Many children and young people with disabilities are rarely afforded the opportunities to have regular access to leisure, exercise or sports activities. Families are isolated which affects their mental well-being; by providing the space and equipment as well as facilitating the recreational activities we aim to host, we will be curbing isolation and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Steps to get it done:
At the end of the roadshow, we will want to engage with families with children and young people with disability and to add to the quality if life for CYP with disabilities in RGB. The events will be taking place at the following venues of GLL ( BETTER LEISURE CENTRES) Woolwich ( Waterfront), Thamesmaed, Sutcliffe park
