Since 1989 these events and band concerts have been provided by the Friends of Vale Park group, which is made up entirely of volunteers. Funding has been obtained from a variety of sources. The general public are not always aware of these facts and their importance in the Park's success in obtaining the Green Flag Award. The Summer Band Festival will bring people together and deliver a better quality of life and well being. For older people the concerts help to prevent social isolation. It is expected that the musical skills of the younger musicians will have increased and bring a more positive attitude from the general public to young people's music making. It is hoped to bring our heritage to life through music by commemorating anniversaries and celebrating our culture. All these take place on the distinctive Bandstand in the beautiful surroundings of Vale Park on the promenade overlooking the River Mersey, which has the best views of the iconic Liverpool Waterfront.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Vale Park has been the venue for outside concerts since its inception in 1898. Some things have changed and others have endured, but what is important is that it brings people of all ages together and gives a feeling of well being to all. Some parts of our local area are amongst the most disadvantaged in the country and our events on the Bandstand are free to all. It is a safe and accessible place for families to relax and enjoy themselves. Musicians are given the opportunity to showcase their talents .The Friends of Vale Park regularly conduct wide-ranging user surveys and the results have shown that if the concerts are the most appreciated events and they would be so disappointed if they could not take place. Simple pleasures endure!
Steps to get it done:
We want people to get out, have fun and enjoy themselves in safe and beautiful surroundings. Traditional or innovative they are all welcome! Our Vision Statement says it all: "Our vision is to be a dynamic and resourceful community, promoting healthy activities, welcoming diversity, conserving the environment, valuing the heritage of Vale Park and celebrating culture, music and the arts"
