Multi-cultural space in Stockport

Fritz von Runte By Fritz von Runte

I'm opening a space in Stockport where there will be Yoga in the morning and Music at night, especially on weekends. I'd also like this space to be available during weekdays for community meetups.

The idea is a space in Stockport that will be used at all times. In the morning, Yoga classes. In the early afternoon, free classes (on computers, languages, or any other skill) and after 4 PM, a space for professional meetups and community meetings. At night, after 7 PM, Music and some drinks. We're going to have a big focus on offering low-alcohol and no-alcohol drinks and beers, and some vegan cakes and snacks, sourced from local businesses. We'd have an online booking system where anyone with a reason for a meeting could book the room at no cost, provided the meet up is open to the community and free to attend. The Yoga classes will be charged, as we'll have a rent to pay, but there'll be discounts and these classes will subsidise the whole operation. It will be a safe space for Stockport.

What we'll deliver:

  • Provide a safe space in the centre of Stockport for the community.

Why it's a great idea:

I had this idea 20 years ago. I'm now parking my life to make it happen. Shalaland is a space that changes its use during the day. In the morning, Yoga classes - affordable and open to everyone. In the afternoon a space for all sort of upskilling classes (computers, languages or business for example). In the early evening meetups and community meetings. And at Night some music for the bohemians. I'm investing all my savings in it but I still need some help, especially to get chairs, glasses, tables, etc...

Steps to get it done:

  • Other furniture
  • Re-painting the place
  • Tables and Chairs
  • Grand opening
  • Re-plastering the place
