junior parkrun UK will help us to set up this weekly 2km event in the grounds of Bishops Park beside Fulham Palace. The event will take place every Sunday at 9:00am. We're following in the footsteps of the 5km event Fulham Palace parkrun, launched in 2013 and held every Saturday at 9:00. We are looking to bring this free junior event to the community to nurture and encourage sport and physical activity in our athletes of tomorrow. At present, the nearest junior parkun is held in Wimbledon Park just under 4 miles away from our proposed location. We believe the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham would benefit enormously from their own junior event. The initial set up cost is £3000. This will purchase the equipment required to drive this event including a laptop with associated software, timing and registration devices, high visibility clothing, signs and adhoc equipment. We have the full backing from the local authority to launch this event. Our launch date is early 2017.

What we'll deliver:

• Funds in excess of our target will be donated toward the purchase of an automated external defibrillator (AED).
• It will be held every Sunday at 9am in Bishops Park.
• junior parkrun is a free weekly 2km event, growing from strength to strength throughout the UK.
• They are open to all young people aged between 4 and 14 years old.
• They are safe, inclusive and easy to take part in.

Why it's a great idea:

junior parkrun is a great community event and it's free! It is an 'everyone active, all inclusive' sporting initiative with a wonderful ethos to promote and instill healthy living from an early age. It is organised and delivered entirely by volunteers; ordinary people donating their time to bring something to community in the true spirit of giving.
