Standbridge Lane Community Development Trust have been working hard for the past two years to secure the lease on the former Standbridge Lane Primary School in order that they can take ownership and transform the former school into a brand new, fully functioning, multi-faceted, all inclusive community centre for the people of Kettlethorpe and beyond.
SLCDT have now secured the lease, however there is a substantial amount of work to be done to bring the building up to a habitable standard such as removal of asbestos, re-wiring and a lick of paint.
Everyone in Kettlethorpe is behind this project and they have been waiting for it for a long time now. SLCDT are making plees to local organisations, groups and people within the community to pledge as much help as they can give in any form. They are also submitting a number of funding bids in the hope that monies can be secured to bring the new Standbridge Lane Community Centre to light!
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The people of Kettlethorpe are very committed to their community and they deserve to have a hub where they can go and relax, learn new skills, enjoy themselves, meet new people, access information and services that are currently unavailable to them in the area, feel safe and most importantly feel welcome, at home and part of a community.
Kettlethorpe currently lacks in a number of facilities, especially those catered towards young people. It is vitally important that something is done NOW in the area to build a future legacy for the future generation of Kettlethorpe.
Kettlethorpe residents have been waiting a long time for this and are ready to harness this fantastic opportunity, it would be such a shame to waste it. Now is the time to bite the bullet!
