We are hoping to raise just enough money to reinstall the church weather vane after it had to be brought down for repairs. A local Blacksmith has repaired/strengthened it and we are currently trying to learn a little more about its history! Due to the height of the spire, it requires specialist fitters.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
This has been a long term project as part of the renovation of the church roof and after discussion with people in Rhuthun, we have decided to try and raise the modest amount needed to finally get the Weather Vane back where it belongs! According to our research, the vane has gone through some turbulent times over the past 50 years and has been carefully repaired and strengthened by a fantastic Blacksmith and new member of our community. There was a lot of local interest when we saw the amazing bravery of the people climbing the spire to take it down and as with so much in life, some of us didn't realise what we had until it was gone! The spire looks somewhat naked without the Vane and we hope that the community will pull together and help where they can whilst we work to try and raise money from other sources.
