Rotarians in Bognor Regis recognised at the start of the lockdown in March 2020 that many children would go hungry. Since then, we have worked closely with several schools to make sure families struggling to feed their children could at least provide this basic need that many of us take so much for granted. Our school teachers are working hard to ensure this funding will make a real difference to these children who not qualify for Free School Meal Vouchers. Rotarians in Bognor Regis are responding but we do need your help in supporting our teachers with their amazing and caring work. £15 is the value of a Free School Meal voucher to provide lunch for one child for one week. We are looking ahead to the Easter break and aim to raise £2010 to support at least 67 children for 2 weeks.

What we'll deliver:

  • We deliver Tesco Vouchers to our schools who then hand them to the families who need support to feed their children.

Why it's a great idea:

Rotarians in Bognor Regis and our supporters have been making a difference to families with this very basic need for nearly 12 months. You can now help us to feed the children who are suffering due to the pandemic and are struggling to get help from other sources. Your donation helps with the general health of the children as well as supporting families. It is difficult to imagine the anguish parents have to deal with when faced with an empty cupboard and hungry children. You can make a difference this Easter and help Rotary and our schools feed the children.

Steps to get it done:

  • provision of Tesco food vouchers to the schools to hand out to families identified in need of support.

Marcus Rashford has made an unbelievable effort to raise the issue of food poverty and free school meals, on a national level he has moved mountains and continues to do so. However, the Rotary Clubs of Bognor Regis have been helping young children whose families can not feed them properly on the income they have. As a small Rotary Club we have been working with several local Primary Schools in supporting families who need help feeding their young children and to date we have supplied those Primary Schools with in excess of £32,000 of food, not in bogus packages of potatoes, carrots and bananas, but in Tesco £15 food vouchers, one per child every week! Yes, that’s well over 2,000 food vouchers for disadvantaged children and distributed by Bognor Regis Primary Schools - yes, a local school near you. Now we need your help to continue our work. £15 helps put a smile on one child's face and helps parents with this very basic need that so many of us take for granted.
