We wish to purchase land to set up a care farm setting, enabling us to build educational buildings and buildings for animals. This project would be initially for SEN young people to interact and work with farm animals within an outdoor farm environment and through the vehicle of farming practices and animal mangement. Our aim is to establish gardens and landscapes with the help of the young people, raising plants/trees from seeds and planting them within the farm setting. Also for them to enhance relationships with the leaders but also their peers. We wish to re-engage people with learning and enhance their wellbeing when they are isolated or have long term illness. We wish to cater for young people whose Statement/Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) identifies severe and profound learning difficulties including autism. In the long term we wish for these young people to help run the farm and open to the public whilst being supported with an employment programme.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
We feel that this project will help the lives, not only of those with SEN, but also the wider community, giving them the opportunity to grow together in this setting and be able to give the SEN young people the help that we all should have whilst involving them in a worthwhile project for the community. We believe that with time, patience and understanding these young people can intergrate themselves into the community and find voluntary jobs and/oremployment in areas such as animal care, horticulture and retail environments. We aim to involve these young people in all of these areas and for them to run this farm for the benefit of all.
